Bali museum to visit

Here is a list of museum that you would like to visit while you are in Bali.

Museum Puri Lukisan, Ubud
Founded by Rudolf Bonnet and Cokorda Gde Agung Sukawati. The developing fine art style at the time was born by Pita Maha (1930s). This museum has a collection of 150 painting and 62 pieces of sculptures, however, has a valuable potent for the idea bequeathing the very estethic art and culture to the next generation. This is the first arts museum in Bali.

Museum Gedong Kirtya, Singaraja
Thousands of ancient Balinese letters in form of chronicle, Kakawin (old Balinese poetry), Geguritan, and is written on the palm leaf (Rontal / Lontar), stored in the original building that was built in 1928.

Bali Umbrella

thumb_umbrellas-3.gifFor auspicious and holy hindu ceremonies, the balinese decorate their temple compunds with colorful umbrellas. In the Balinese dialect this umbrellas are known as Tedung, which literally means “to guard”. The umbrellas are used in ceremonial parades and positioned around the compounds in alignment to various shrines that orientated towards the sacred mountain of Gunung Agung. The colors of the umbrellas used are normally symbolic of whatever ceremony is taking place. the most typical are shades of bright yellow and white, which are pure colors that reflect dedication to the Hindu and religion and manifestation of God.

Bali wins best exotic destination award

Once again Bali has received an appreciation from the world as the Best Exotic Destination, this award is come from the luxury travel magazine. the January 2008 edition of the magazine reader’s picked bali as the best exotic destination.

Bali managed to collect 17% of the total votes of the readers who joined the polling beating 13 other participants, including Mauritius and the Thailand Golden Triangle as other tourist destinations which had also been nominated as Best Exotic Destinations.
